Fentimans have been making the finest quality natural botanical drinks since 1905. The award winning artisanal beverages are hand crafted using our time-honoured Botanical Brewing process. Over 100 years later, it still takes a full 7 days to make a Fentimans beverage, using recipes which have been passed from generation to generation of the Fentimans family. By retaining the time-honoured Botanical Brewing process, and a relentless passion for sourcing the finest natural ingredients, Fentimans are able to achieve a unique depth of flavour, mouth feel and rich texture, which are the hallmark of Fentimans drinks today.

Over the past decade, an ever-increasing number of people have discovered Fentimans drinks; consuming on their own or as a mixer with premium spirits. The origins of Fentimans stem from the small Yorkshire town of Cleckheaton. It was here in 1905, when Thomas Fentiman, an iron puddler by trade, provided a cash loan to a fellow tradesman. As security, Mr Fentiman received what would turn out to be an extremely valuable deposit – a recipe for Botanically Brewed Ginger Beer. The loan was never repaid, so Thomas used his new recipe and began producing Fentimans Ginger Beer. Today, Fentimans is still a family run company with the current Chairman, Eldon Robson, who is Thomas’ Great Grandson. Fentimans has gone on to be a British success story, exporting to over 70 countries and recently winning the prestigious Grocer Exporter of the Year Award. Indeed, Fentimans have now expanded from the original Ginger Beer to include a full range of award winning artisanal beverages including soft drinks, mixers and alcoholic Ginger Beer.

In Thomas Fentimans’ original recipe, the finest ginger root was bruised, crushed and milled, then placed into copper steam jacketed pans containing spring water and then gradually heated to simmering point. This induced the release of fine ginger sediment and a flavoursome botanical extract. The Botanical liquid was then filtered into a wooden vat. The finest herbs, natural flavourings, sugar and brewer’s yeast were added to the botanical extract and the liquid was thoroughly stirred. The live liquid was then left to ferment in the wooden fermentation vat. The live ginger beer was then decanted from the wooden vat into the iconic stone jars, known affectionately as “Grey Hens”, where it came up to condition and was ready to drink within a week.

Fentimans beverages use all natural ingredients containing no artificial sweeteners or preservatives. They are suitable for Vegetarians, Vegans, Coeliacs and are all Gluten Free (excl Lemon Shandy). The depth of flavour, mouthfeel and rich texture of their beverages is created using the traditional botanical brewing process. This is the Fentimans way, which has stood the test of time.

All Fentimans soft drinks contain natural flavourings, such as lemons, oranges and ginger root to create unique and powerful flavours in each product. The wide range of soft drinks Fentimans has to offer today stems from these natural flavourings and botanicals. For example, one bottle of Mandarin and Seville Orange Jigger combines the juice of eight mandarins and the zest of a Seville orange resulting in this drink containing over 58% real fruit juice. The purity, quality and traceability of ingredients and a close working relationship with suppliers are very important to Fentimans; for example, the rose oil used in the Rose Lemonade comes direct from the famous Rose Valley in Kazanlak
