Naomi Devlin – Nutritionist, author, teacher – dubbed as the Nigella of gluten-free
2018 Nourish Awards host, dubbed as the Nigella of gluten-free. Naomi is a nutritionist, author of River Cottage Gluten Free and Food for a Happy Gut cookbooks. She is an expert on gut health, fermented and gluten free food – a diagnosed coealic. Naomi is teaching courses at River Cottage including basic and advanced gluten free cookery, Happy Digestion, Seasonal Nutrition, Gluten Free Italian and also at Otter Farm a two-day course Food for a Happy Gut, Gluten Free Celebration and more.
Wilfred Emmanuel – Jones – Founder of The Black Farmer
Wilfred worked as a chef before pursuing a career in television. He is credited with bringing many of the top UK celebrity chefs to the small screen including Gordon Ramsay, Antony Worrall-Thompson, Brian Turner and James Martin.
He bought a small farm in Devon in 2000. This inspired him to develop and launch his own food brand, launched in 2005, The Black Farmer brand has grown to be one of the top selling Gluten Free sausage brands in the UK committed to using higher welfare British protein. Today the range includes burgers, meatballs, chicken, bacon, cheese and eggs available across the UK. Flavours without Frontiers – the promise offered by his products also goes some way to sum up his personality. He will not be confined by race, convention or tradition.
Ugne Bubnaityte – 2015 GBBO Contestant, dubbed as the Pioneer of Modern British Free-From
Growing up in rural Lithuania, Ugne was taught to bake from a young age by her mother and grandmother, using high-quality local and organic ingredients. Fitness and sport have always been important to her and she became Regional Champion in UK Body Building Federation, as well as Top 10 in Britain placement. Ugne entered the Great British Bake Off tent in 2015 (series 6) and tried to bring her Lithuanian and free-from influences to most of her bakes with great success. She was chosen by Holland & Barrett as the face of their Festive Free-From campaign in 2015. She holds two Ambassadorial roles, one for Meridian Foods, one of the UK’s longest-established producers of health foods and the other for NRGFuel which is one of Europe’s longest standing sports nutrition brands and highly reputed in the fitness industry across Europe. At the start of Bake Off, Ugne launched her website and blog (www.ugnebakes.com), where the emphasis is very much on healthy baking and published ‘Sweet Alternative’ November 2016 (only available in Lithuanian at present).
Christine Bailey – Award Winning Functional Nutritionist, Chef and Author
Christine Bailey is an award winning degree qualified Functional Nutritionist, Chef and Author with over 18 years of experience in the health and food industry. Winner of Coeliac UK Chef of the Year award Christine is a renowned expert in free from and regularly sought after for her expertise in developing free from recipes and products. With a passion for creating delicious nourishing recipes Christine has a reputation for transforming people’s health and love of real food. As well as seeing clients, running cookery days and writing for national press, Christine regularly appears on TV and radio as a nutritional expert and chef. Christine has also published over 14 recipe books including the popular Gut Health Diet and the Brain Boost Diet. Christine’s clients include children with allergies and is the organiser of the children’s category of the Free From Food Awards. She also runs free live allergy free cook alongs on facebook live christinebaileykitchen . Christine is an inspiring nutritional chef well known for her engaging style and enthusiasm.
Karl Imiruaye – Technical and Development Specialist
Karl qualified as a Food Technologist in Humberside and has over 30 years experience developed with independent and blue-chip companies. Supplying retailers such as M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, from a variety of companies within Northern Foods, Saxby Brothers and RHM, within development, process and technical disciplines.
Karl has set new industry standards in bread, cookie dough, ready to use pastry, Christmas pudding, ready to bake fudge brownie, microwaveable bread dough. Other categories and products Karl has successfully launched include party-foods, ready meals, soft drinks, ice cream, cooked meats, fresh fish, modern deli, bakery, confectionery, Christmas celebration, pizza’s, pasties, hot and cold eating pies and QSR products.
In recent year Karl has also spent time working with retailers identifying, developing and sourcing a variety of free from and made without products including, vegetarian and vegan cheeses, non dairy desserts, gluten free savoury and sweet pies, pizza’s and sweet puddings and cakes within Europe.
Jan Minihane – Paleo expert, founder of the UK Paleo Awards
Jan, paleo expert and mum of three awesome boys! Jan runs the UK’s largest Paleo directory website, www.healthyperspective.co and organises the UK’s Paleo Awards. She works with people, organisations and businesses to raise the profile on paleo & primal living.
Jennifer John – Founder & MD at Ceres
Jennifer is the founder and MD of Ceres, a PR and marketing agency specialising in food and wellbeing. She originally trained as a home economist and is also a member of the Guild of Food Writers. Jennifer’s interest in free from eating came from cooking for a family that includes coeliacs and a husband that also has a nut allergy and a family member who is also lactose intolerant.
Jennifer has led many campaigns for brands in the freefrom space as well as generic campaigns that focus on food and wellbeing, including Love Your Gut and Wholegrain Goodness. She has wide experience across the food industry from fresh produce to bread and baking – but above all has a love of good food!
Kathryn Race – Director at Ceres
Kathryn Race is a Director at Ceres; a PR and marketing agency specialising in food and wellbeing. Kathryn has a keen interest in food and nutrition and the simple role of how ‘eating well’ can support your body and help it function better for longer, she is also a member of an active ‘Nutrition on Track’ group. Kathryn leads on a number of food and wellness campaigns for clients including LoSalt, Doves Farm Foods, Mary Berry’s Foods, Explore Cuisine and Steve’s Leaves. Prior to this Kathryn was Marketing Director at the Potato Council for over 10 years – driving forward consumer research and industry insights to lead successful marketing campaigns with the aim of driving up the consumption of potatoes.
Zita Alves – Health & Fitness Coach, Zest Bootcamp
Zita Alves changed her health and career in her 20’s to become a passionate promoter of all things health and fitness. Food and cooking has always been important in Zita’s life as she is half Portuguese. She has several gluten free cookbooks and the 8 week Total Shape Up Plan that is a step by step healthy eating plan to help people improve their health and wellbeing. It won Product of the Year at the 2016 Maximise event run by Women’s business club. Zita works with Riverford Organic as she is passionate about #eatmoreveg and she has helped hundreds of people over the last 19 years through her 1-1 personal training and outdoor bootcamp exercise programmes. She also loves food!
Bonny Prim – Health & Wellbeing Coach, and co-founder of The Coaching Café
Bonny chose to train as a Nutritional Therapist after many years of disappointment with the diet industry and now uses her skills coupled with her Life Coaching expertise to help others achieve their weight loss goals. Diagnosed with a non-coeliac gluten intolerance some six years ago, she is always on the lookout for gluten free foods and frequently shares recipes, hints and tips with her tribe.
She is the co-founder of The Coaching Café; a place where she works to empower women to achieve their goals, live the life they want and feel great about themselves through a holistic approach utilising the joint skills as Nutritional Therapist, Life Coach, Yoga Teacher, Meditation and Mindfulness teacher, hypnotherapist, personal trainer, massage therapist, reiki master and psychology graduate.
